HI! I'M CRISTINA

I was a professional recipe developer for more than a decade. My recipes have appeared on Food52, Cup of Jo, Buzzfeed, Shape, and People, among other publications.

I'm also a mom who had gestational diabetes. Postpartum, I've spent years recipe testing, researching, writing, collaborating, and designing in order to create a comprehensive, A-to-Z set of GDM resources.

I built GD Kitchen to be the resource I wish I’d had: everything I needed to know and had to learn the hard way, from the practical to the emotional. I want your experience to be clearer, less stressful, and more delicious than mine was.

My favorite hobby is sharing food with others. Farmers’ markets are my jam. I’d rather buy fancy cheese than new shoes. Eating—even eating on a GD diet—should be a pleasure, not a sacrifice.

I'VE BEEN IN YOUR SHOES...

GD affects between 2-20% of pregnancies, but after my diagnosis, I felt overwhelmed, confused, and alone. Suddenly, my dietary choices were super limited, and my blood glucose numbers became a constant source of worry and frustration.

Because gestational diabetes is hormone-driven, each woman’s body reacts differently. (And the SAME woman's body will react differently as the pregnancy progresses, and the placenta grows!) Basically, GD is an under-researched, moving target.

This is where GD Kitchen comes in: it’s the all-in-one platform to help you get started, help you along the way, and to cheer for you across the finish line.
